The concept revolves around a centralised charging system. Battery boxes are distributed to the local communities by pay as you go or pay monthly schemes and are charged back at the kiosk. The power is usually provided by solar panels, but grid-connected and hydroelectric kiosks have also been considered.
The central idea is to concentrates the Energy Kiosk model into a single product, a small solar panel connected to a sealed unit which can provide lighting and charge small appliances. A rent-to-own scheme encourages customers to keep paying on a regular basis and to take good care of their system.
