Batima, opened in the summer of 2010, was among the 2nd generation of energy kiosks to be implemented. Located in the Rweru sector, in southern Rwanda about 20 km from the Rwanda-Burundi border, Batima is located in the flattest part of Rwanda. It's new system features 2 parallel running systems, hence in the case of failure of one system, the Kiosk continues to run. It also includes the addition of 2 storage batteries and conversion of the voltage output to AC via the inverter, allowing use of AC chargers instead of expensive DC counterparts.

The kiosk was opened with a pay per recharge system, but in the summer of 2011, all battery boxes were collected and replaced by newer models under the same payment structure and with a new shopkeeper. In the summer of 2012, a third generation of boxes was added to the system on a monthly payment system due to high demand and great receptance of the system by customers.
